Meeting Gerard Way

Most days I still feel like a teenager, and some aspects of my interests still reflect that *ahemcomicbooksandmychemicalromance* so when the opportunity to meet one of my absolute favorite comic book creators/musicians arose, I camped out for over nine hours to make it happen. Gerard was incredibly easy to speak with. When I approached, he shook my band and we chatted briefly. I asked him to sign a few variant issues of the new Killjoys comic (unfortunately I did not have my Umbrella Academy books with me), the inside cover of my official portfolio sketchbook (featuring a charcoal of Gerard as 'The Boy'), and the inside of my left forearm, which I immediately had tattooed after the signing. I understand that many people have unjustified biases against My Chemical Romance, but I really believe that is because they have not actually taken the time to learn about the band and for what they stand. Their music has helped me through many difficult periods of my life, even to this day.
I am so happy to have met one of my teenage heroes!
(And yes, I realize just how much of a total dweeb I look.)
